Charleston, SC – Leland Oil Co.

Rest Day
There is a saying in sailing: “if you are thinking about reefing, you are already too late.” The same could probably be said about rest days.
Starting Friday, Heather began contemplating how to work a rest day into the schedule. By Sunday night, that thought had turned into necessity. She was beginning to feel under the weather—and by Monday morning, it was clear this wasn’t just a passing feeling. (And no, it wasn’t from the drinks at The Gin Joint the day before.)

So, a rest day it was.
As it turns out, Leland Oil Co. in McClellanville, SC didn’t leave us with many alternatives anyway. Tucked among working shrimp boats, the marina is about as authentic and no-frills as it gets. The only nearby restaurant? Closed on Mondays.

Which meant the decision was made for us.
So we stayed put.
Just what the doctor ordered – and maybe some antibiotics to go along with it.
